Susanne Mitchell of Kee's Tae Kwon Do in Yorkton is heading to Egypt for the World Junior Championships of Tae Kwon Do (TKD).

She will be there from April 4-8.

Before she gets to Egypt, she will have been to the Spanish Open.

At both events, she will be a TKD referee.

"This is the first time I've been selected," she said of her acceptance letter which she received late last month for the world championship tournament.

Mitchell has been to qualifiers before, but this is the world championships.

She said she is very excited.

"Oh yeah! she said. "People had to qualify for this," she spoke of how the athletes get to this event.

Whereas, she said the Spanish Open is open to anyone; competitors have to be good enough to reach the world championships, she excitedly told the newspaper.

"You have to be selected (for this)," she continued. "It's out of this world."

Mitchell added she thinks it's important that she takes advantage of the opportunity to attend this.

"I just want to do my best for the athletes."

Before she arrives in Egypt, she will be refereeing at the Spanish Open which will involve 1000 competitors.

"It's high level competition to maintain (my)referee experience."
