The Richardson Yorkton Cardinals Pee Wee baseball team had a disappointing Sunday but at least they had some fun the day before.
Yorkton hosted a doubleheader on Saturday and had their doubleheader on Sunday cancelled due to rain by 11 a.m., that day.
Against the Estevan Tornados on Saturday, Yorkton threw three pitchers on the mound but none of them had much in the way of luck all game. They were handed an 11-5 loss.
Yorkton head coach Kevin Shirtliffe called it a "comedy of errors".
Yorkton would have the tables turned in the rematch, however.
In the loss, Kaito Farquharson started the game but was relieved by Gregor Farquharson. He was then taken over for by Keenan Taphorn, who closed the game, said Shirtliffe.
They received some run support from both Taphorn brothers, as well as Kaito Farquharson, Tyler Stratechuk, Jordan Evans, who scored in the bottom of the seventh inning, notes Shirtliffe.
When he said the first game was hard to watch for his team, that could mean that the second game might be easier for him to watch.
His team won convincingly, 12-2.
He pointed out that they had to stop the game due to the mercy rule in minor baseball.
Evans was given the ball to start the game and had to be right on the money for most of the game in getting the decision.
Shirtliffe said he put Reid Perpeluk in late to help him out a bit.
He added that there were a lot of errors made by Estevan.
Scoring was credited to Stratechuk (3), Zachary Goulden-Maddin and Keenan Taphorn (each with two), Evans pitched a strong game and also contributed a run, as did both Farquharsons, Owen Shirtliffe and Braden Kitchen.

With the win and loss, the Richardson Cardinals bring their league record dead even to .500, four wins, four losses through eight games played. Coach Shirtliffe added that the standings won't reflect the nine games that the team has had cancelled due mostly to inclement weather conditions.
