Rick Kinaschuk rink of Arran tops Norquay Men’s Bonspiel

The Rick Kinaschuk rink of Arran topped the annual Norquay Men’s Bonspiel which was held March 17 to 20 with 16 rinks participating. Out-of-town rinks were from Pelly, Arran, Canora and Preeceville. A banquet was held Friday night.

            Winner of the A event was the Rick Kinaschuk rink of Arran. Curling with Kinaschuk, skip, were Byron Zbirun, third; Jeff Osatchuk, second; and Alexander Riehl, lead.

They defeated the Rick Nahnybida rink of Arran with Wes Lylyk, third; Sheldon Dyck, second, and Terry Nahnybida, lead.

Third place went to the Ken Newell rink of Norquay, and fourth, to the Brian Hubic rink of Norquay.

            The Brad Knutson rink of Norquay won the B event. On the team with Knutson, skip, were: Devin Sopel, third; Vince Northrop, second, and Jerry Larson, lead.

They defeated the Terry Dennis rink of Canora. Curling with Dennis were: Zenovie Gulka, John Zbitnoff and Dale Lozinski.

Third place went to the Vern Schick of Canora, and fourth, the Vaughn Demetrick rink of Norquay.

The Ralph Ager rink of Preeceville won the third event. On the team were: Sheldon Luciw, who stepped in as the skip for Ager; James Bodnar, third, Al Bodnar, second, and Owen Myhr, lead.

They defeated the John Knutson rink of Norquay. Third place went to the Ed Nelson rink of Pelly, and fourth, to the Rostotski rink of Norquay.
