Many things have changed for Michael Elgin since he first set foot in Yorkton back on Thursday April 22, 2010 to take part in Canadian Wrestling’s Elite’s (CWE) first-ever Saskatchewan show, where he was defeated by Jimmy Jacobs.

Since then the current Ring of Honor (ROH) star has undergone a nickname change, going from ‘The Canadian Crazyhorse’ to ‘Unbreakable’.

He won ROH’s Survival of the Fittest tournament in 2011 and had a Five Star Match with Davey Richards in 2012.

He was the runner-up in not one but two Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG) Battle of Los Angeles events, falling to Adam Cole in 2012 and Kyle O’Reilly in 2013 before a stellar 2014 that saw Elgin capture tournament wins in Absolute Intense Wrestling’s J.T. Lightning Tournament and Independent Wrestling Association Mid-South’s Revolution Strong Style Tournament.

Elgin then managed to get his revenge on Adam Cole in June of 2014, defeating Cole at ROH’s Best in the World event to capture the ROH World Championship resulting in Pro Wrestling Illustrated naming him the 14th best wrestler on the planet.

But with all of those huge changes, one thing still remains the same for Elgin. He still enjoys coming to smaller town to wrestle in front of rabid fans, although he hasn’t been able to do so recently. “I love coming to smaller places and wrestling but with my contract with Ring of Honor I’ve been doing strictly Ring of Honor shows and it makes me miss the small towns and where I cut my teeth into wrestling,” the former ROH World Champion told Yorkton This Week on Saturdaym adding that he’s looking forward to his return to Yorkton. “It’s been over five years for me, but I’m excited to come back to Yorkton because the last time I was here it was a great place to be and I enjoyed performing in front of those fans and I look forward to doing it again and I can’t wait to be back.

“My career has definitely skyrocketed in the last five years. I’ve been a mainstay at ROH, I’ve been a world champion, I’ve got to tour the world and I actually have Japan coming up so there has been a lot going on but it’s great to be back and I feel as if I’m almost 100 times better than the last time I was here.”

Elgin will have to be much better than he was the last time as he’ll be taking on former WWE superstar Justin Gabriel in tonight’s (Wednesday) main event at CWE’s Fear Factor Tour show.

But no matter how talented Gabriel is, Elgin believes he’s ready. “I think that I can honestly say I’ve never went in to a match not prepared so yes, I’m definitely prepared,” mentioned Elgin, continuing, “I respect his work ethic, I respect the work I’ve seen him do but I hope he knows how full his hands will be when he steps in the ring with me.

“We’re going to have a match that people will remember for years to come and it’s a show that people are not going to want to miss and it’s definitely going to be a match that no one will want to miss.”

To make sure you don’t miss it, pick up your tickets at Precious Therapies Vitamin Store (#14-3 Third Ave. N) or buy them at the door at Yorkdale School. Doors open at 6:30p.m. and bell time is 7:00pm.
