The power of sport. Any sport, and any team, at any level, is capable of bringing people together to create unity and strength. The Humboldt Broncos are a source of pride for the community of Humboldt, the province of Saskatchewan, and the entire sports world. We must remain together as one, continuing to provide comfort and support to all who have been affected. Let us celebrate the lives of those who are no longer with us, and fight for those who still battle for their lives.

This Saturday, April 14th, the Saskatchewan Rush and Georgia Swarm will be coming together as one to honor the Humboldt Broncos. Both teams will be wearing jerseys slightly altered from what is usually worn, with Broncos patches on the chest of all jerseys. Rush jersey name plates will feature the word Humboldt, while Swarm jersey name plates will feature the word Broncos. The jerseys will be revealed Friday morning at 11:00AM EST / 9:00AM MST on Saskatchewan Rush, Georgia Swarm, and National Lacrosse League media platforms.

Beginning Saturday morning at 11:00AM EST / 9:00AM MST, all jerseys from both teams will be available for auction on the NLL Ebay page. The auction will end on Saturday, April 21st at 6:00PM EST / 4:00PM MST, with 100% of the funds raised being donated to the Humboldt Broncos community.

“Our organization was deeply saddened by the tragic accident in the Humboldt community,” Swarm Co-Owner and President Andy Arlotta said. “Alongside the Rush this Saturday, we will be playing with heavy hearts as we honor the lives that were lost last week. In an effort to help raise funds for the victims’ families, we are honored to wear special Humboldt jerseys this weekend. We encourage all of our fans to participate in the online jersey auction as a way to help the families during this difficult time.”

In addition to jerseys, rink-boards at SaskTel Centre this Saturday will feature names of all those who were on the Broncos team bus April 6th. For fans in attendance at the game, we strongly urge you to purchase a 50/50 ticket. We are proud to announce the Saskatchewan Lacrosse Association will be donating proceeds from the 50/50 to the Humboldt Broncos community. With everyone’s support, let’s make this the largest 50/50 to date!

“The Saskatchewan Lacrosse Association is devastated to see so many lives lost in this tragic accident. We want the Humboldt Broncos Hockey Club, City of Humboldt, and all the friends and families of the victims to know we support you and stand with you during this difficult time”, said SLA President, Shawn Williams. “Our Association would also like to send our deepest condolences to the Broncos family with the recent passing of Dayna. Dayna was a trainer with our SWAT Lacrosse program and Team Sask program and she will be deeply missed.”

The Saskatchewan Lacrosse Association will also continue collecting donations and auctioning the special Rush/SLA warm-up jerseys at their booth at the April 14th & April 28th home Rush games, along with online bidding. The winners will be announced at the April 28th game and all proceeds will go to the Humboldt Broncos.

“We thank the Arlotta family, the Swarm organization, and the Saskatchewan Lacrosse Association for their willingness to participate in something that is really far more significant than our game this coming Saturday,” said Rush Owner Bruce Urban. “There remains an overwhelming amount of pain in our province this week, and we still struggle to find the words. However, the Saskatchewan Rush organization will continue to do everything possible to support the Humboldt Broncos community during this time.”

This Saturday’s game will be broadcast live on Twitter, as the NLL Twitter Game of the Week. Fans who are unable to attend the game, are encouraged to watch and participate in the online jersey auctions.
