Saints host Melville, Canora and Porcupine

The SHHS senior girls basketball team played a four team tournament recently in Saskatchewan High School Athletics Association action Feb. 11 in their home gymnasium. Three teams were invited to participate.


The SHHS senior girls basketball team played a four team tournament recently in Saskatchewan High School Athletics Association action Feb. 11 in their home gymnasium.

Three teams were invited to participate.

Canora, Porcupine Plain and Melville all gathered to play.

Tournament results saw the Saints finish with one win in three tries.

Melville's team finished on top with three wins. Porcupine Plain finished second with two wins and a loss. SHHS was third and Canora came in last with three losses.

Leading scorers for the locals included Shayla Merriam, Emily Kruger, Morgan Shymanski and Katie Inglis.

Next up for the SHHS senior girls is a trip to Langenburg, says coach Chris Hansen.

They will compete on the first weekend of March and then head to Notre Dame for a seven-team conference tournament on the weekend of March 9-10
