Twenty-five volleyball teams will meet in Yorkton over the weekend to participate in the 18 & Under Women's Saskatchewan Volleyball Association (SVA) SASK Cup 2 tournament. The McSweeney Selects club will be the hosts. There will be admission at the door of $5 per day or $8 for the weekend.

Volleyball Canada rules for 2011-12 will be in effect.Selects coach Brent Brown said it's a matter of working on the things that went well for them when they played in last weekend's tournament. "We just have to take those positive things forward into our next tournament and then into provincials followed by nationals." Last weekend, McSweeney's played in a pool with the Yorkton Blitz, Nipawin BBT and the Regina QCVC Heat. The Selects went on to finish in third following the opening round.

Despite a couple bright spots over the weekend, McSweeney's had a tough weekend.

"We had trouble serving on Saturday and this led to some poor results," notes coach Brent Brown.

He added that he tried a few new things with the team and it went in their favour at times.

"We have been trying some new things and when they worked, it was great."

Unfortunately it was a little sporadic and we have to work on our consistency." The team is preparing for a couple tournaments upcoming, Brown says, including this weekend, and participation in the 2012 SVA provincials. This weekend, his club is hosting the 18 and Under women's tournament, involving 27 teams.
