Paul Toth of Saltcoats added an appearance in the Senior bowl to his credentials, capping of his high school career by playing in the annual all-star event.

It was at the University of Saskatoon's Griffiths Stadium.

Toth, who was the lone representative of the Yorkton Regional High School, took to the field with a team of players representing SHSAA high schools in the south, taking on those from the north.

"It was a defensive game," he said.

The score was 3-1 at halftime, recalled.

That defensive game went out the door very early in the second half, he said.

"The first drive of the second half resulted in a touchdown. We came out firing."

It was all back and forth from there, he said.

"We scored another touchdown (making it 15-3).

The North then answered back with a touchdown and added a two-point convert, he said.

"We scored another one (after that)."

All of that scoring came to a sudden halt with time running down in the fourth quarter of play.

"They had the ball late and we made a third-down stop," he said, making it sound like it just happened.

Toth, who just finished his final year of high school eligibility said he "wasn't quite on the field as much" as he would have liked, but got some playing time two series before the final play.

He played mostly on defence, but his coach, who represented Riffell, also placed him on the kickoff unit and for the long snapper.

The intent of the Ed Henick Senior Bowl game is to showcase the best high school football players who have used their final year of eligibility in a North vs. South all star game. Every year, Football Saskatchewan asks all high school coaches throughout the province to nominate players from their school, who they feel are capable of playing and competing with the best in the province.
