It was two more games and two more wins over the weekend for the Sherring Gold AA Pee Wee Yorkton Terriers.

With a glimpse of a first place finish in sight, the Terriers had a chance to capture the President's Cup as league champion and they did it with two straight wins over the Moose Jaw Warriors at the Farrell Agencies Arena.

The scoresheet was so full of names following Saturday afternoon's win over the Warriors, the scorekeeper couldn't fit them all in; some of them appeared under the 'suspended' section of the game sheet.

All joking aside, the Terriers whipped Moose Jaw into the crowd, the Warriors, playing minus a few starters, scored early and then late, taking it on the chin in a 17-2 romp.

Yorkton led 7-1 after one period and 13-2 after two periods.

Coach Zawatsky said it was evident that his team was focussed on closing out the season with two more wins.

"We were just really ready, focussed," he said, adding that in the Saturday game, he got scoring from 12 different players."

On Sunday, Yorkton would close out the season with a 9-2 win and would be presented with the President's Cup (see related story in this section).

Closing out the season a perfect 20-0 was plenty of reason to celebrate but Zawatsky said nothing will come easy the rest of the way, which includes playoffs against Swift Current coming up in the next couple weeks, followed by an appearance in an international hockey tournament which will take place in Quebec, Zawatsky said.

Of the 200 teams who applied to be accepted into the tournament, half of them are taken, he said.

"This group won," he said.

There will likely be all kinds of pee wee teams Yorkton hasn't seen before. Zawatsky said it could be good.

"(It will be) interesting to see if we can compete.
