The Female Athlete of the Month for September is a very busy athlete. Rita Fetsch was a member of the Sacred Heart cross country team and soccer team.

In cross country, she won gold at the Saltcoats Autumn Summit, she won district gold in Melville and at provincials out of 74 racers she just missed out on a provincial medal finishing in fourth place.

All of her coaches say she never misses a practise or game and she always has a cherry and positive attitude no matter how hard the practise is. She is one who helps out at every practice making sure all the equipment is put away before she will leave the field

This athlete plays striker on the girls' soccer team.

In 16 soccer matches this fall she has scored an amazing 39 times, accounting for half of her team's scoring. She has also been the set up player assisting 12 times. Of the 78 goals the team has scored, she has had a part in 51 of them.

The September Male Athlete of the Month is a member of the Saints football team

He plays both offensive line and defensive line.

His aggressive play on defence has put him among the tackle leaders and he has also intercepted a pass for a touchdown, a rare feat on the defensive line.

He is a strong offensive player who as the year progresses is getting more and more responsibility, from blocker to pass receiver to even running the ball out of the backfield.

He picks up the plan quickly and is always willing to help out the younger players.

He has become a leader this year. He demands players follow his example of hard work and full effort with his 'NO plays off' attitude.

He truly shows the true spirit of Saints football, hard noised and aggressive.
