Each month a male and a female student is selected as the SHHS Saint of the Month. Saint of the Month students are nominated by staff and students of SHHS. The selection is based on: Demonstrating Christian Values, School work, School Involvement, Leadership, and Community Involvement.
January’s female Saint of the month is a grade 12 student. She is thoughtful, extremely helpful, inclusive and always willing to volunteer to help teachers or students. She is always enthusiastic about everything she does and is not one to shy away from a difficult task. She achieves an average of 90% or higher every year while being involved in AP math and previously in the AP english program, and is currently in the university English class. In every class, she works hard and excels in them. She is involved in many extra curriculars including Yearbook, basketball, drama, the school musical last year and was previously apart of rock band and choir. She currently works at Co-op and used to be a competitive dancer at Dance Innovations. This student is always willing to accept new people and make them feel welcome. She is a positive role model and makes sure to encourage others to do their best work. She is involved in Prairie Harvest Christian Life centre and leads Sunday school at her church. January’s female saint of the month is Erica Ford.
The Male saint of the month for January is a grade 11 student. This student is always trying to cheer people up, and is very kind and helpful to his fellow students and teachers. He makes sure to include everyone, when he sees someone standing alone and not being included, he will be the first one to walk over and extend an invitation. He makes sure to help out his coach after practices to put away all the equipment. The student studies hard and is a positive student in his classes and is currently achieving his best math mark ever. He volunteers at the soup haven with the rest of his team and spends time helping young kids improve their hockey skills. He loves to participate in school activities and is always willing to take the lead when necessary. He makes sure not to be a follower, and is always promoting positive leadership on and off the ice. He attends a church in his hometown and plans on attending Caronport after high school to pursue a Theology degree and become a minister after. January’s male Saint of the month is Carson Benning.
