SHHS senior badminton team plays on the road

The senior badminton team from Sacred Heart High School went to Canora on April 17. In girls' doubles, Katie Inglis and Allison Kruger finished first in their pool. They went on to earn a bronze against the host Canora.

The senior badminton team from Sacred Heart High School went to Canora on April 17.

In girls' doubles, Katie Inglis and Allison Kruger finished first in their pool. They went on to earn a bronze against the host Canora.

Finishing second in her pool of girls' singles was Morgan Shymanski.

"While playing in some very tough games, and back-to-back matches in the playoffs, and with all the matches going to a close score in all three games, Morgan came out with a silver medal," reports SHHS badminton coach Jim Grela.

In mixed doubles, Emily Kruger and Preston Liebrecht faced great competition, but were able to remain undefeated finishing first in their pool, adds Grela.

"They played an extremely exciting hair-raising match against Invermay and defeated them in two games."

Liebrecht and Kruger went up against Melville in the final and won gold, adds Grela.

The SHHS returned from Norquay where they took part in many excellent matches the results were as follows.

In boys singles, Anthony Fetsch finished fourth overall in an extremely tough pool of boys. In boys doubles Nathan Guy and Jaedon Pallet finished third in their pool and went on to also finish in fourth place after a heated 3 game match with Invermay. In girls singles Rita Fetsch finished second in her pool and went on to win the silver medal.

In mixed doubles, Riana Skikewich and Justin Guy finished first in their pool and ended up with the silver medal.

In girls doubles, finishing first in their pool and then in a heated final match against Canora, came away with a gold medal. Congratulations team. They will again see action on April 24 as they (SHHS) host city playoffs after school.
