The Good Spirit School Division (GSSD) continued its tradition of providing its students with alternate solutions for keeping fit and getting/staying in shape.

They held their Showcase Track Meet at the Flexihall recently which was a continuation of the Standards Meet.

The top athletes from the Standards Meet advanced to the Showcase.

Jason Trost, employee with the GSSD put it into his own words:

"The GSSD Showcase Meet is designed to do exactly what the name suggests. It Showcase's some of our school division's finest young athletes. The students do their best at high jump, long jump, 50-metre relay, 600-metre relay and shot put. At the end of the night, the top three boys and top three girls in Gr. 4-6 win a medal for each event.

We have seen real progress over the three years of this track meet as students become more familiar with the events. We are glad to see the interest in track and physical activity, in general, increasing.

In total since the event began, 32 records had been set. Sixteen of them were set this past week at the Showcase meet, says event chairman David Baron.
