The Yorkton Cross Country Ski Club was able to take advantage of a specialized snow removal machine when they officially opened up the trails at the Deer Park Municipal Golf Course over the weekend. Merlin Toth of the Yorkton Cross Country Ski Club said the machine was borrowed from Good Spirit Lake and campground and this is the first time it's been used at Deer Park's golf course.
He said the machine makes a huge difference for anyone who is skiing the trails.
"It really made the day," he said. "We wanted to use it for today's event," he said of the ribbon-cutting ceremony at Deer Park Municipal Golf Course this past Sunday, featuring Mayor of Yorkton James Wilson.
"It's a state-of-the-art small grooming machine," adds Toth, who stated up front that the machine isn't theirs.
"It's the first time it's been to Deer Park.
"It's able to produce top quality ski tracks.
