Yorkton Minor Football Association continued their winter workouts over the weekend. Due to inclement weather outside, they had to hold warmups indoors.

"I was wishing it was like Saturday's (weather)," said Jason Boyda, offensive co-ordinator for the YRHS football team.

The temperature dropped a bit for Sunday's practice drills and everyone went inside.

They have been warming up in preparation for next season for a few months, says Boyda.

The workouts are designed for all players from the atom level to the high school senior age group.

The workouts consist of strength and conditioning football drills, and team building activities.

Just over 20 players came out over the weekend to work on both offence and defence.

Boyda said moving indoors due to inco-operative weather conditions meant the offence had a little less to work with.

"I would have liked to install the passing game."

He noted that in terms of positioning, some of the returning players will have their spots on the roster locked up already, others will go by various team needs, he said.

Team practices for the junior and senior teams will start on May 1.

There will be a home game on May 16 that will see YRHS play host to Winnipeg and another home game versus Brandon on May 25, Boyda said.
