Rain cancellations occurred almost every second day this past week and the SESBL standings remain tight.
Scheduled games for last Wednesday and Friday were rained out, including both Western Major Baseball League and the South East league.
The Yorkton Yankees, who are stacked with players who used to play Junior in Yorkton, sit atop the standings with 14 points. The Willowbrook Royals are in second with 12 points, were scheduled to play in Melville this past Sunday evening, however, rain that morning cancelled that matchup.
The Canora Supers were sitting in third place heading into Sunday morning with nine points. They are scheduled to play a rescheduled game with the Yorkton Junior Cardinals Monday night.
The Melville Bison are next with eight points and the Supers sit in third place with seven points, and as of Sunday evening, can throw a tie, and a single point, in which added up to an overall record of 3-2-1.
In fourth place as of Sunday is the Junior Cardinals, who haven't played since June 3 at home when they went 1-1 in their first home doubleheader of the season.
They were scheduled to play the Yankees Monday night in Yorkton.
The Langenburg Indians have made a return to the South East League. In their first season since 2001, the Indians have claimed two wins in five tries.
They entertain the Junior Cardinals on June 21 at Jubilee Park diamond 1.
Rounding out the South East standings in order, are the Yorkton Orioles (also new to the league), the Parkland Padres and the Swan River Reds.
Action was supposed to continue into this week, however a wet field in Canora prevented that . Yorkton was the site of a pair of games last Sunday as the Canora Supers made their second trip to Jubilee Park in seven days. The Parkland Padres hosted the Melville Bison immediately following the Supers/Yorkton Orioles game.
Strong pitching can likely be credited for the final score of that matchup as the game ended in a 0-0 tie.
Melville went on to beat the Padres later that night by a 9-6 count.
The game brought an end to a busy week for the Supers who pounded out an 8-3 win here one week ago this past Sunday over the Junior/Senior Cardinals.
Those two teams headed back down the highway to the Al Sapieha Field in Canora for a rematch unfortunately Mother Nature decided she would rain in on that affair and as a result, the game is to be rescheduled.
The Yorkton Junior Cardinals meeting with the Swan River Reds on June 9 was also given the rainout caution.
