The Yorkton Bulldogs won their first set of back-to-back games over the weekend and it did not go by without a little bit of surprise. In a twist ending, their match with the Regina Riot was stopped just prior to the start of the third period.

In a twist ending, their match with the Regina Riot was stopped just prior to the start of the third period. Officials called the game on a count of poor floor conditions at the Kinsmen Arena. A statement issued on the game sheet read the followig: "CALLED DUE TO DANGEROUS CONDITIONS." The decision resulted in an 8-2 victory for Yorkton, whose record now has them with three wins on the season.


Some of the teams in the South East Senior Baseball League had their games cancelled due to rain over the past seven days. Last Friday, the Junior Cardinals weren't able to get their game in; on Sunday, their road trip to Langenburg didn't happen, either. The club was scheduled to head to Al Sepieha Field in Canora to take on the Supers. However that game was called off at 3 p.m., Monday. It was then rescheduled a second time for last night in Yorkton.


The Yorkton Cardinals of the Western Major Baseball League had a relatively successful week last week, coming back in the late stages of last Tuesday's victory over Moose Jaw. Final score was 3-2. On Saturday, they hosted the Weyburn Beavers in a doubleheader. They fell 3-0 in game one, but rallied to win game two, 3-2. They were scheduled to host the Edmonton Prospects on Monday and Tuesday.


The Yorkton Cardinals Pee Wee AAA team is seated in the middle of the league standings. Through eight games played, the team's record sits at 4-4 with nine games cancelled due to rain. Also competing in the league are Weyburn, Regina Pacers, Swift Current Indians, Estevan, Yorkton, Regina White Sox, Melville and Moose Jaw.


Former Yorkton Harvest defenceman Damon Severson is heading to the NHL Draft this weekend in Pittsburgh.
