The Yorkton and District United Way mixed golf classic will be on Friday morning at the Canora Golf Course. Texas Scramble format with an 11 a.m., tee off. Registration fee of $75 includes 18 holes of golf, lunch, steak supper and lots of prizes.


The Yorkton and District United Way mixed golf classic will be on Friday morning at the Canora Golf Course. Texas Scramble format with an 11 a.m., tee off. Registration fee of $75 includes 18 holes of golf, lunch, steak supper and lots of prizes. Anyone interested in participating can register either with a team or as an individual. Golfers must pre-book their own golf carts if they want to use one. Bookings can be made by phoning 563-4104. The registration fee is listed at $75 or a minimum of $150 in pledges. Pledges must be submitted by golfers prior to tee off. The prizes for the top five pledge earners includes a $1,500 travel voucher by Outta Here Travel, Yorkton. Charitable receipts will be used for pledges only, not for entry fees. Extra tickets for the dinner are available at a cost of $20. Dinner and presentations follow the golf. The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League preseason has started. The Yorkton Terriers were scheduled to host Weyweyseecappo on Tuesday night at the Farrell Agencies Arena. They will also play Swan River at home on Sunday night at 6 p.m. The SJHL regular season starts for the Terriers on Sept. 21 when they welcome the Weyburn Red Wings to Yorkton.


The Yorkton AAA Harvest are also in the process of going through their preseason schedule in preparation for the regular season. The Harvest are scheduled for four preseason games. On Sept. 15, they host Regina, on Sept. 19 they host Notre Dame. On Sept. 25, they head to Notre Dame and Sept. 29 for the rematches. The Harvest will open the regular season at home on the final weekend of September when they play their first weekend homestand against the Saskatoon Contacts on Saturday and Sunday.


The PRA is holding its next race date on Sept. 16 at the Yellowhead International Speedway. Cost of admission is: $8 13 and over, $4 ages 6-12 and those 5 years and under are admitted free.
