The Western Major Baseball League Yorkton Cardinals are getting ready for their last home date of the season. They are scheduled to host the Regina Red Sox tonight (Wednesday) on home diamond.


The Western Major Baseball League Yorkton Cardinals are getting ready for their last home date of the season. They are scheduled to host the Regina Red Sox tonight (Wednesday) on home diamond.

They close out the season tomorrow night when they head to Weyburn. The team is coming off a pair of losses to the Okotoks Dawgs.




For the second year in a row, the City of Yorkton will be the site of this year's AAA Provincial baseball championships. The host team will be the Alexander Mens Wear Junior Cardinals.

Other teams competing will include the Moose Jaw Eagles, Regina Athletics, Saskatoon Dodgers, Southey Eagles, Regina Red Sox and the Saskatoon Stallions. Play begins at 1:30 p.m., on Friday when the Athletics play the Dodgers. The first game for the Cardinals will be at 7:30 p.m., when they play Moose Jaw.



Several members of Kee's Tae Kwon Do in Yorkton will be competing or referring in several events across the globe, including Rio De Janeiro, Brazil and Korea.


Holden Knights of Yorkton was one of only five residents of Saskatchewan who have qualified to take part in the Hershey Track Meet in Hershey, PA.

The 10-year-old student at MC Knoll Elementary School in Yorkton qualified for the Hershey meet after performances in both Yorkton and Saskatoon track meets.

Over 400 kids will be competing at the Hershey meet.


For the second year in a row, the Junior Cardinals have qualified to play in the South East Senior Baseball League championship series.

This year's final will be a rematch of last year's. Yorkton will take on the Willowbrook Royals, following the Royals' beating of the Canora Supers.

The opening game of the finals was scheduled to be played last night in Yorkton, however results were not available in time for press.

The two teams will then have a break of at least five days before game two.
