The Yorkton Bulldogs dropped a pair of road games over the weekend. On Saturday they lost 11-5 in Moose Jaw. On Sunday they came up short in a 9-4 loss at Regina. This weekend, they are on the road in Prince Albert to take on the Predators.

The South East Senior Baseball League' Yorkton Cardinals played their opening home games of the season on Sunday, winning one and losing the second game. This week, they are in Canora tonight (June 6) and make the trip up to Swan River on Saturday to take on the Reds.


The Yorkton Cardinals of the Western Major Baseball League got their season off to a good start, winning 7-5 in Melville on Friday. They lost three in a row on home field Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Next up is a doubleheader in Weyburn tomorrow night.


Under the watchful eye of Jennifer Ingham, the Yorkton Regional High School cheerleader tryouts will start this week. Tryouts take place over a two-day period this week, ending today. The tryouts will take place in the YRHS gym. Attendance at both tryouts are necessary Today's session begins at 4 p.m., for youth and 5:30 p.m., for junior.


The Sacred Heart High School cheerleaders are putting on a clinic this Saturday in the SHHS gym. It will run from 9-12 noon, break for lunch, and then continue from 1-4 p.m.


The Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT) players were treated to a beautiful first day with warm temperatures at the MJT Saskatchewan Series at Cooke Municipal Golf Club in Prince Albert this past weekend, but on the second day winds gusted up to 60 km per hour, giving local players the advantage as the tough greens were quick and very difficult to read. Kade Johnson, 13, of Yorkton, SK, took home the MJT Boys 13 & Under gold medal after firing rounds of 75-81 to edge off a hard-charging Noah Kozack, 12, of Regina (83-81).


The elementary school football season has started at the Yorkdale Central Public School. The team is scheduled to entertain the Preeceville team this week on home turf. The Yorkdale team took on Melville last week and cruised to a win says head coach Jason Boyda. The team is also scheduled to travel to Watson on Friday afternoon at 4 p.m., for another league game.. Next week, they have three practice periods set up for Tuesday, Thursday and a Gr. 8 practice on Saturday.
