The Health Foundation Charity Road Race is coming up on Aug. 19. Ray day entries will not be accepted. Money raised from the event will go towards the purchase of mediacl equipment for the health region. Included in the day are numerous races, says race director Ross Fisher. New for this year is the 1/2 marathon which takes runners from the Yorkton Regional High School to the far east end of town. All runners should pick up race kits from Sport Mart on Aug. 18. Fisher said they are still accepting entries.



arret Stoll and his family will be celebrating the LA Kings Stanley Cup victory with the community on Aug. 16. There will be a parade down Broadway Str., starting at 2 p.m., said parade co-ordinator Penny Sandercock. The parade will start at the corner of Darlington and Sixth Avenue. It will proceed west to the Gallagher Centre and will disburse into the parking lot. All parade entries must be received ahead of time. Parade directors will be on site to place entries in order and monitor the parade. Anyone wishing more information should contact Sandercock at 782-6456.



The final series of the South East Senior Baseball League is scheduled to start up tonight, weather permitting, at Jubilee Park in Yorkton. The Yorkton Yankees (1) take on the Willowbrook Royals (2) in a best-of-five series. The first team to three victories is crowned league champion. The opening game goes tonight while Game 2 will be played Friday night in Willowbrook. Scores can be followed on the www.ballcharts.com web site. Jeremy Hrebenik of the Royals said his team will have a new look to it since last year's final when the same two teams played.


The Parkland Racing Association is holding its next race date on Aug. 19 at the Yellowhead International Speedway. Cost of admission is: $8 13 and over, $4 ages 6-12 and those 5 years and under are admitted free.
