The Parkland Racing Association will be holding their monthly race date on Aug. 21 at the Yellowhead International Speedway. The event is sponsored by Deluxe Motorworks and Wholesale Transmission and Differential. Racing begins at 2 p.m.

Admission cost is $8 for those 13 years of age and over, $4 for those between 6-12 and those five years and under are admitted free of charge.

The last teams standing in the South East Senior Baseball League are the Yorkton Junior Cardinals and the Willowbrook Royals.

The two square off in a best-of-five series. Scheduled to begin last night in Yorkton, official results were not available in time for press.

The series will continue in Willowbrook tomorrow night (Thursday) at 6:15 p.m., and will return to town here on Friday night., starting at 8 p.m.


Deer Park Municipal Golf Course in Yorkton will be holding a series of open events.

Involving juniors, men's ladies and seniors, the four tournaments will be hosted between Aug. 4-10.

The juniors play on Aug. 4, The men's open will be on Aug. 6-7, the ladies on Aug. 8 and the senior's tournament is currently scheduled for Aug. 10.

Former Yorkton Regional High School student and native of Saltcoats, Avery Westberg will be competing in the 2011 Western Canada Summer Games.

It will be held in the Kamloops, B.C., and will run for 10 days.

Westberg will be competing in the track and field portion of the Games. Other events will include baseball, basketball, beach volleyball and canoe/kayaking.



A pair of 10-year-olds from Yorkton came away with a second-place finish at an elite hockey tournament held last month at the West Edmonton Mall.
