The YRHS senior boys basketball team is live on the Internet this week (see related story on this week's Sports Front Page). The YRHS plays today and again tomorrow. Games are broadcast live on the Coal Bowl web page, from New Waterford, Nova Scotia.

The Yorkton United men's soccer team is putting on an indoor soccer tournament at the Gloria Hayden Centre, MC Knoll, and Ecole St. Michael's. The tournament will feature the Parkland Mall men's futsal league teams as well as the U8 and U12-U14 mini league teams. There is also a steak night fundraiser at Pocket's Sports Bar on Saturday night. Soccer action starts at 9 a.m. and runs until 4 p.m.


The SJHL Terriers played two games over the weekend. They play again tonight (Feb. 1) when the Flin Flon Bombers come to town. Game time is 7:30 p.m.


The Yorkton Minor Hockey Association's Initiation Program will be holding their annual home tournament on the first weekend of March. The IP teams include the youngest hockey players in the system. Games are scheduled for March 3-4. Minor hockey said there are 230 hockey players taking part and six teams. For details, contact Nicki at 782-4280.


The Yorkton Regional High School's sports calendar includes a weekend tournament this weekend for the junior girls basketball team. The games start on Feb. 3 and continue into the next day.


The SHHS girls basketball team is hosing a four-team tournament on Feb. 11. Competing teams include Melville, Canora, Porcupine Plain and Sacred Heart. The Saints start at 10:30 against Canora.


The Yorkton Royals basketball team held a tournament Saturday afternoon for teams from Regina and Manitoba. The finals match came down to Jason Boyda's home team and the Mackenzie club from out east.


The Yorkton Royals boys/girls basketball team season schedule continues into today (Feb. 1) when both teams travel north to take on Preeceville. Game times are at 4 p.m. Tomorrow afternoon, they are scheduled for action at Sacred Heart High School in Yorkton, also a 4 p.m., tipoff. On Friday, the boys team practices from 3:45-5:45 p.m.
