After hosting one of the tightest games in recent memory (see story) the Yorkton Regional High School football team is in for a road trip to Swift Current where they will play against the Colts.


After hosting one of the tightest games in recent memory (see story) the Yorkton Regional High School football team is in for a road trip to Swift Current where they will play against the Colts. The YRHS was handed their first loss of the season over the weekend but a win at Swift Current will up their record to 4-1.


The SJHL Yorkton Terriers were also handed their first loss of the season, a 2-1 setback at the hands of the Houns of Notre Dame. The club heads to Weyburn for a game with the Red Wings on Friday then return home to Yorkton to take on the Nipawin Hawks. Game time is 7:30 p.m., at the Farrell Agencies Arena.


The AAA Yorkton Harvest hockey club opened their season over the weekend with back-to-back games with Saskatoon. They next play this weekend when the Battlefords Stars come to town. Game times are 2 p.m., on Saturday and Sunday.


After a blowout victory earlier this year, the SHHS junior football team had to work a lot harder on Monday afternoon in a rematch with the Melville Comprehensive School Cobras. Jake Kustra led all rushers with 108 yards in a 36-18 win. Jonah Sutter added 87 yards on the ground and had one touchdown. Bode Fisher had two and Evan Gleason and Austin Walkington had one each. On defence, Brody Kormos recorded 14 tackles and a sack. Next game is Wednesday against Kamsack.


They Yorkton Regional High School junior boys volleyball team hosted a tournament over the weekend. Also involved was the Gr. 9 YRHS team and the Sacred Heart team. The finals were between Prince Albert's Carlton and Yorkton Regional and went two sets in Prince Albert's favour.
