Draw five in the Duck Mountain Super League of men’s curling was played December 8 in Norquay where all three sheets of ice were occupied.

The game between Terry Dennis of Canora and hometown favourite Ken Newell was a brief affair. Dennis, aided by his team’s stellar shot making, scored four points in the first end and never looked back. Newell conceded the game when the score was 7-0 after four ends.

Don Bowes of Kamsack jumped into an early lead and stayed ahead of Jeff Osatchuk of Benito. Osatchuk, who was filling in for skip Rick Kinaschuk, had a chance to tie the game in the sixth end, but was unable to execute a very difficult angle raise takeout. The game concluded 8-3 for Bowes.

The final contest in Norquay between Fred Perepiolkin of Kamsack and Jeremy Hrycenko of Arran was won by Perepiolkin in six ends.

Three men’s curling teams are now tied for first place in the Duck Mountain Super League. The top teams, each with three wins, are skipped by Terry Dennis, Don Bowes and Fred Perepiolkin.

Ken Newell of Norquay and Randy Trofimenkoff of Kamsack, both with two wins, are tied for second place.

Duck Mountain Super League action shifted to Canora on Tuesday when Trofimenkoff was to play Newell, Hrycenko was to go against Dennis and Perepiolkin curled Kinaschuk.

The final draw in Duck Mountain Super League round-robin play is set for December 22 in Benito.
