Another good crowd is expected this year at MC Knoll.

Former YRHS and Saskatchewan Roughrider cheerleader Brittany Thies is returning to Yorkton again to hold her annual cheer clinic on April 28.

It is in conjunction with Yorkton Minor Football's Football Day in Saskatchewan.

Among the highlights of the day, asides from Thies, will be a football camp held at the Flexihall and a guest appearance by Roughrider QB Darian Durant, who will also be speaking at the banquet held later that evening at St. Mary's Ukrainian Centre.

Thies is no doubt looking forward to returning for her clinic, which is targeted for females as well as males.

"Being a former Raider and Rider cheerleader I find it necessary for younger ladies and gentlemen to get some of the opportunities that were offered to me."

Thies has put the clinic together for three years in the past and is looking forward to her fourth go at it.

"Therefore we are having the fourth annual Raider-Gridder Alumni Cheerleading Clinic.

The event is sponsored by the Raider-Gridder Alumni, any girls/guys ages 6-13 are welcome to come."

She said this year she is going to assemble two separate clinics, one for the youngest kids and another for those who are slightly older.

"This year there are two separate clinics. They are divided between 6-9 year olds," explains Thies, "and one for ages 10-13."

Numbers are up, she adds, but is still hoping to have a few more register with the registration deadline quickly approaching.

"I would encourage you to send this to your friends and relatives if they would be interested. All registration money will be donated to Yorkton Minor Football."

There is a registration form available and can be obtained at the Yorkton This Week office on 3rd Avenue in Yorkton.

"Students can pick them up at most schools in Yorkton and area," adds Thies.

There should be information at every elementary school office in surrounding communities, as well. (those that are in the Good Spirit and Christ the Teacher School Divisions.)

"Completed forms can be mailed to the below address. But if anyone wants a form they are more than welcome to call the contact number on the poster or e-mail me at [email protected]."

Deadline for forms is this Friday (April 20) in 2012. Space is limited.
