Wednesday May 19 saw the Melville Bison visit the Yorkton E & S Yankees with the Yankees coming out on top of a 12 to 1 score. Starting pitcher Tyrel Thorpe earned the first ever win for the newly formed Yankee squad with a complete game performance.

Wednesday May 19 saw the Melville Bison visit the Yorkton E & S Yankees with the Yankees coming out on top of a 12 to 1 score. Starting pitcher Tyrel Thorpe earned the first ever win for the newly formed Yankee squad with a complete game performance. Jarett Waldbauer was tagged with the loss for the Bison. Thorpe gave up one earned run on 4 Melville hits and no walks while striking out 4. The Yankees generated 13 hits while leaving only 6 stranded runners. Offensively lead off batter Kurt Karcha went 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored, Mackenzie Unyi was 1 for 3 with one walk, one run scored and one RBI, Derek Kohut went 1 for 3 with a walk, two runs scored and one RBI, Ryan Neal 2 for 3 with one walk, 2 RBI's and three runs scored. Tyrel Thorpe helped his own cause by going 1 for 3 at the plate, scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 runs. Rounding out the offense was Evan Wasylyniuk going 1 for 3 with one walk and 2 RBI's, Garrett Karcha who went 2 for 4 with one run scored and one RBI, Kurtis Chupa with 2 singles and one RBI and Eric Tutossi with a base on balls, one run scored and one RBI.
