The York Lake Golf and Country Club suffered a lot of damages from several floods over the past several years, and have been looking for ways to repair and improve ever since.

The York Lake Golf and Country Club launched a new crowdfunding campaign last week in hopes of raising money to improve their clubhouse.

Crowdfunding is the raising of money through small contributions from the public using the Internet and social media.

The “Baby It’s Cold Inside!” campaign launched online on Nov. 24. It will give those who donate an opportunity to do some holiday shopping from their home, while they help out their local golf club.

The golf club is looking to raise a total of $5,000 from the campaign. The money will go towards the installation of a new air conditioner in the clubhouse. The total cost of this project is estimated to be $10,000. The extra costs will come in through donated supplies, time and services.

“We want our members, golfers and friends to give ‘cooler’ gifts this Christmas,” said Judy Hughes of the York Lake fundraising team.

York Lake has teamed up with Community Futures Saskatchewan, who supports small businesses in rural areas, to put this together.

People who wish to take part in the campaign can choose from a number of perks to purchase. They (or those on their Christmas list) will receive the gift, and York Lake will receive the money.

Some of the perks include golf rounds, buckets of balls, stay & play packages and more. They can all be redeemed after the start of the 2017 golf season.

The campaign will run until Jan. 6, or until all the perks have been sold. Go to www.cfcrowdfund.net for more details or to contribute.
