The Yorkdale Central Public School football team had a busy week last week in playing three games; two were played in their own backyard, and a third game took them up to Watson.

Last Tuesday afternoon, Yorkdale's Gr. 7 team took on Preeceville in the first of two games played between Yorkdale and Preeceville.

Yorkdale's Gr. 7s went on to a 52-0 shutout win, says head coach Jason Boyda.

Derek Budz, Austin Olson and Brayden Jarvis had standout games for the home side.

The second game between the two teams was played between the Gr. 6 students, says Boyda. Yorkdale went on to their second victory of the day but the score wasn't quite so lopsided.

Yorkdale held off a late attack by Preeceville and hung on for a 32-12 win.

Boyda told the media that there is a lot to like about such a young team.

"I like the fact that they give everything they've got on every play."

The good fortunes continued when they packed their bags and headed up to Watson.

Yorkdale put up another victory, winning by a 54-12 count.

"We did great," says Boyda. "We beat them 44-12. The kids played awesome!" Boyda credited Watson for putting up a good fight being a young team.

"Watson is a pretty young team. They have some pretty good players."
