The Yorkdale Central Public School boys basketball team played two games on Saturday.

They hosted the 2012 east central districts in the Yorkton Regional High School gymnasium.

They went on to win the 'B' side final but missed a chance to play in an all-Yorkton matchup that would have taken place Saturday at noon.

They lost one and won one, says coach Jason Boyda.

"We lost yesterday in a good game," says Boyda of their Friday night game against Preeceville.

They would go on to beat Esterhazy in the 'B' side final, 41-28.

Boyda said he likes the way his team moves the ball, passes and "played some solid defence".

Our boys played good enough to win."

In Friday's opening game, they lost by nine points to Preeceville, 39-30.

"We are improving every single game."

Against Esterhazy, they played well enough to win and did win, Boyda said.

"It was good. We took it to them."

"For us (to win it).it was pressure the d," he said, as well as scoring off turnovers."

The season for the Yorkdale boys and girls' teams continued into this week with games at MC Knoll on Monday and a home game against Churchbridge which was scheduled for last night.

The girls team is scheduled to practice tomorrow night from 3:45-5:45 p.m.
