Yorkton FC wins gold at Credit Union Eventplex in Regina

The Yorkton Dynamite Under 16 Girls captured gold for the second consecutive tournament in Regina at the Credit Union Eventplex.

The Yorkton Dynamite Under 16 Girls attended the Queen City United tournament in Regina on Nov 3-5 and defeated a Division 1 U 14 team to capture the tournament gold .


The Yorkton Dynamite Under 16 Girls captured gold for the second consecutive tournament in Regina at the Credit Union Eventplex.

The United girls had attended the Queen City United tournament in Regina on Nov 3-5 and defeated a Division 1 U 14 team to capture the tournament gold. In this tournament, hosted by Regina Razz, they met the same team in the final and captured their second consecutive gold medal.

"I would like to (say) that this is the second gold medal we won this indoor season and the fact that both has been won in the premier and second division combined" offered coach Alfredo Bermudez.

In round robin play the team played QC United and ended up with a tie in a very well-played game by both teams. Rita Fetsch and Darian Desjarlais scored for the Dynamite.

In the second game they met the Unidad U14 Div 1 team and won the game 5-3. Rita Fetsch scored the hat trick, singles were added by Kristen Jonassen and remarkably enough by keeper Edie Schramm.

To complete the round robin, the girls played Unidad U16 team and came away with a 7-0 win. Fetsch scored four goals and Jonassen scored three.

"I would like to congratulate to each of them for playing very good," adds coach Bermudez.

The Dynamite captured the tournament by defeating QC United 4-1 in the Final. Fetsch opened the scoring and Kristen Jonassen scored a hat trick to complete the scoring.

Schramm came up big in net at the right times and made some beautiful saves to hold QC to just one goal. In the previous tournament, the Dynamite went undefeated, winning all four of their games.

NEXT ACTION

Our next tournament will be winter fest at end of January, but our big tournament to come will be provincials at end of February in Saskatoon, Bermudez closed.

"After the Christmas break, (we) will be back in training to get ready for provincials. I also want to wish each of them a very Merry Christmas."
