Yorkton jumps to early lead hangs on for win in LaRonge

The Terriers are in Flin Flon tonight (Saturday), and then play the Bombers again Sunday.

YORKTON - The Yorkton Terriers began a three-game northern swing last night in LaRonge.

It took the Terriers only 2:58 to get on the scoreboard in the SJHL contest as Colton Koran potted an unassisted marker.

It took less than three-minutes for Yorkton to make it 2-0 as Jason Desnoyers scored at 5:21.

It was quickly 3-0 as Desnoyers scored his second of the contest at 7:52 of the opening period.

LaRonge finally put one on the board as Dylan Handel scored an unassisted powerplay marker at 14:58 to round out the opening game scoring.

The Terriers continued to have a good night offensively in the middle frame with Anthony McIntosh scoring at 5:07 and Jye Zawatsky at 18:49 to give Yorkton a 5-1 lead.

The Ice Wolves finally came alive in the third.

Parker Layton scored on the powerplay at 6:51.

Jaxson Martin added one at 7:35 to keep a possible comeback rolling.

The Terrier lead was cut to one goal as Jacob Hufty scored at 11:32 to make it a 5-4 contest.

But that would prove the end of scoring as Yorkton escaped with a 5-4 win.

Ethan Farrow was in the Yorkton net facing 45-shots, while Topher Chirico faced 42-shots in the loss for LaRonge.
