Yorkton could not get rolling against Moose Jas under the lights Saturday

YORKTON - It was billed as the ‘Saturday Night Main Event’.

The stands were full.

The YRHS marching band was on-hand for half time.

Everything was ready for a celebration of Yorkton Raider Gridder football.

Then the visiting Moose Jaw Central Cyclones went and spoiled everything.

The Cyclones scored early and just kept on rolling as they handed Yorkton a 26-0 defeat, one of the most lopsided losses the home team has taken in years, and the first shut out at home in 23 years.

Yorkton had only three first downs in the opening half and only six more in the second half.

Chase Batke led the Yorkton rushers with 66 yards. Liam Bewcyk had 32 and Chase Batke had 29.

Parker McDowell had 26 yards receiving.

Yorkton heads to Weyburn for their next game.
