YRHS cheer team results

The cheer squad of the Yorkton Regional High School placed third in the Saskatchewan High School Athletics Association provincial cheerleading competition over the weekend, says coach Priya Pandit.

"We're at level III," she said upon arrival back in Yorkton.

"You compete according to the size (of the school)," she said.

She said the YRHS has 23 girls on the squad.

The other schools competing were from Saskatoon, she said.

"It was good. We felt like we could have got second," she added.

Earlier in the year, the team finished in second at a competition held at the University of Regina.

Pandit told the media their pyramid was probably their best performance and she hopes to improve it for next year by adding some gymnastics element to it.

"Our pyramid would increase the level of difficulty but we had a very good routine. The judges were good, too," she added.
