The YRHS girls' volleyball program hosted a weekend tournament involving eight teams.

Taking part was Kelvington, Balgonie, Oxbow, Melville, Canora, Weyburn and Prince Albert (Carlton).

The Regional's senior and junior girls' teams took part as well as the Sacred Heart senior team.

Lee Poncelet returns to the helm of the YRHS senior girls, said 10 teams came out, and they were divided into two pools of five.

The Regional's senior team finished the round robin in second place and the junior girls finished in fifth place.

He said the junior team is full of young talent and added that they are going be a good team.

He said the senior team isn't a big team, but they are playing hard and are doing well with the "simple fundamentals".

The senior team had qualified for the quarter final game in which they would go up against Weyburn, he said.

"We'll seehow they finish."

If there is one thing the senior team has in its favour this season, it should be experience, says Poncelet.

Jodi Onda-Inglis, Brittany Brenzen, Emma Lockhart and Brandi Neibrandt all returned to the Raiders' fold, said coach Poncelet.

"There have been some good games."

He noted that the teams are still figuring out their systems.
