Yorkton Regional High School student Avery Westberg has added another gold medal after winning first place at the Age Class Provincials held over the weekend in Saskatoon, said her YRHS coach Mike Haczkewicz.

Westberg ran 4kms against some very good competition, said Haczkewicz.

He added that Westberg even beat her rival who gave her the most challenge at last weekend's provincial meet, which Westberg also won, held at Regina.

Haczkewicz said he wasn't sure of Westberg's time at the Age Class provincials.

She did win money from the race which Haczkewicz said will go towards helping her pay for the costs involved in flying to Ontario when Westberg will take part in the national cross country championships which are scheduled to take place later next month in Guelph, explains Haczkewicz.

Also with win over the weekend, he said Westberg has been scouted by the University of Regina Cougars cross country team.

He said they've asked her to come out with them when they head to Calgary this coming weekend.

Other strong finishes for the YRHS cross country team a t the Age Class Provincials include Matthijs Wenning, whom Haczkewicz said finished in second place in his respective race, and Brandey Blahut came in third place that day.
