(June 3) Yorkton United Chelsea U12 FC played its Regina Premier League (RPL) home opener Saturday June 3 against the Regina UCT.

The final score was 5-1 Yorkton. Goal scorers were Thomas Djagowez (2), Brett Popoff, Matthew Cochrane and Matthew Mandziuk.

Said coach Andy Wyatt: "We played well and carried the play for a lot of the game. When we made mistakes, our defence and goaltending scrambled to save us. Koen Kuchar-Paulmark, Brady Gelowicz and Garion Miller played great on defence and Carson Sveinbjornson made some big saves in net."

Sunday saw QC United visiting Yorkton. QC United is the top team in the RPL. Yorkton lost 9-1.

"We knew that would be a tough game. They scored early in the game and it put us on our heels. We had some energy with a goal by Jordin Rusnak and a couple of breakaways that we just missed but the game got away from us at the end of the first half," remarks Wyatt.

They turned it around a little bit in the second half however they were badly outmatched offensively.

"The second half was a strong(er) defensive half for us but we were pressed into our end for most of the time. The kids never gave up and fought hard the entire game."
