The Saskatchewan Roughriders pulled out their third straight win under Ken Miller by defeating the Toronto Argonauts 30-20 last Saturday afternoon. The team didn't even play that well. Then again, the Boatmen are a complete shipwreck (pardon the pun). Still, is it possible that Greg Marshall will go down in history as the worst CFL head coach ever? It certainly looks that way. How can you be 1-and-7 and then 3-and-0 after making just two changes (head coach and offensive co-ordinator)?

And, there have been some bad coaches in recent years. Jeff Reinebold, Mike Kelly, and Bart Andrus come immediately to mind. But, Marshall may trump them all. I'd be shocked if the man ever got a coaching gig in the CFL ever again.

It's a touchy subject to weigh into, but with the recent deaths/suicides of Rick Rypien, Derek Boogaard, and Wade Belak one has to wonder if there is a direct relationship between performance enhancing drugs and depression. The one thing in common all three of these players had in common was that they were all impressive physical specimens who played a tough guy role in the NHL. Their tragic end is not entirely different from a number of professional wrestlers, who also had incredible physiques, but also dealt with mental illness before leaving this world all too early.

I was in Melville on Friday afternoon for the Grand Opening of the Horizon Credit Union Centre. It's an impressive facility. One local person joked to me that, "It almost doesn't seem like we are in Melville." I can imagine there will be a number of hockey fans from Yorkton that will be making the ½ hour trip down the highway to see the Mils play a few times.

Speaking of the Terriers and Mils, I wonder if it would be possible for them to get together on a trade so that Yorkton could get more scoring and Melville could get some help keeping the puck out?

The NFL RedZone channel is so popular, a few photographs have been circulated showing people at a live football game, but watching tv on their iPad from their comfort of their stadium seat!

I see Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Walt Natynczyk is in a bit of hot water for spending too much money on personal flights to NHL and CFL games as well as gala nights and family vacations. The tab was about $1-million dollars. There should be a happy medium somewhere. I do think he should get certain perks and taxpayers shouldn't nickel and dime him. Still, I think a bit better judgement could be used in certain situations.

This story of the missing Dominican tourist near Arran is completely screwy. At best, it fails the smell test. The story went from Santos Nunez being lost in the bush to him jumping from a moving truck with $700 in cash on him to him being found near the Manitoba border in a field suffering from dehydration. His wife is being held in custody in Winnipeg because she had no visible means of support. That could change with her husband having been located. Let's not spend any more money on this situation and simply allow them to use their airplane tickets (assuming they had return tickets) to get the next flight home.

A recent USA Today study indicates Americans will spend $58 on chocolate this year. Meanwhile, people from Norway will spend $208.

Another useless tidbit: businessmen in New York are opening a store that will sell forty different flavors of mayonnaise.

Nice person mentions to Jeannette Haubrich, David Brooks, Lynel Martinuk, Jeff Goebel, and Melissa Poarch.
