Auditor General Sheila Fraser has requested more details on how Members of Parliament spend taxpayer dollars. To this point, she has been rebuffed. Conservative MP Gerald Keddy says the issue has been blown out of proportion. Perhaps, but if it's no big deal, then why all the secrecy? Just show the detailed records. People that live in Yorkton-Melville have a right to know how Garry Breitkreuz utilizes his expense sheet. It is public money.

Apparently, the ER in Yorkton isn't necessarily an ER if the doctor hasn't had a supper break.

Our family had a situation last week where it was, unusually, quiet in the Emergency Room and we figured we may not have to wait with our soon-to-be 3-year-old for very long. We figured wrong. Physicians have a right to eat. So, if you need to use the Emergency Room, make sure you take into account the doctor's meal time. After 7:30 works best. When it comes right down to it, critical situations are often handled admirably by the medical staff. But, if you need to see a doctor for something that simply requires some meds in order to heal; I feel quite strongly about a fee-per-visit if it helps things run more efficiently. I would, gladly, have paid out of my own pocket last week if it meant for a less stressful and time consuming trip. It should be noted the nurse on duty that evening was excellent. Too bad we didn't get his name. I should also mention that while my daughter was in the 'Emergency Room', she did not require what I deem to be 'emergency' care; so the wait was simply an inconvenience as opposed to something that allowed her health to deteriorate. The doctor that saw her was great as far as bedside manner is concerned.

Canadian Blood Services will be conducting a blood donor clinic in mid-July. If you have never donated blood, please consider it. I'm amazed when I go because the people I see there are ones that I figure are so busy, how can they possibly include this in his/her day?

Therefore, if you are someone who uses the 'I'm too busy' excuse, well that's simply not good enough. As long as you don't faint at the site of a needle, and provided you are a decent moral living person (meaning you are not handling monkeys, having sex with HIV infected people, or shooting up drugs) then you will likely qualify.

Am I the only person that feels Yorkton has reached the point where the city is big enough to handle a franchise family restaurant? I take nothing away from the establishments we have, and I don't think if one of the big well-known franchises set up shop in Yorkton that the local ones that are already here would suffer. I just think the city is big enough that there is room for one more.

Inventions of 3D and LED in the television world is great, but what are we going to watch? 24, Lost, and Law & Order have all been cancelled. Oh well, I guess there is always reality tv. Wow (sarcasm).

As I'm typing my column, I notice a program on HDNet called Ring Of Honor Wrestling. Does anybody watch wrestling anymore? I used to watch the WWF/WWE a dozen years ago when Stone Cold Steve Austin was entertaining the masses. I wasn't under any illusions. I was well aware it was fake and, at the time, wasn't looking for anything 'deep' in order to be in-terested. I'm not sure why or when I stopped watching; but I've given it a few minutes every couple of months and I'm not sure if it's because I'm getting older or not, but wrestling is just bad now.

In keeping with that thought, if I was the same age today as I was a dozen years ago, I would be more likely to watch the MMA or UFC instead of professional wrestling. By the way, I don't know MMA or UFC either. In fact, it might be the same thing. I have no idea.

Nice person mentions this week to Dean Tank, Cam Mehling, John Mandziuk, Glen Brezinski, and Curtis Hunt.
