The start of a new school year is always important and special. The new Student Representative Council is full of new and exciting characters who will, hopefully, bring fun and excitement to our school year. This year we have Sheldon Newberg as the SRC president and Mackenzie Griffith as the vice-president. As the SRC secretary, we have Anna Howard, and for the social directors, we have Landon Rayner and Dillon Nokinsky. There are several members at- large this year. They are: Shelby Abrahamson, Haley Howard, Cassie Dyck, Taylor Romanyshyn, Jessie Andrusiak and Wesley Bass. With these lovely and diverse people at the head of our school, this school year is bound to make several unique, but outrageously fun memories.

Cross-country running has always been a big hit for the students of Norquay School and this year, at the 14th annual Run for Peace Cross-Country Meet at the Cherrydale Golf Course in Yorkton on September 9, we had some outstanding placings.

In the boys squirt race, there were a total of 69 runners that competed, and here’s how our boys did: Kade Rubletz placed 26th; Brody Gulka, 24th; and Jace Vogel, 15th.

In the squirt girls, there were 63 runners participating. Norquay athletes placed as follows: Ashlyn Olson, 34th; Alexis Lindgren, 33rd; Anna Hort, 24th; Mia Butterfield, 19th; Summer Johnson, 11th; and Jordyn Sveinson, second.

Moving to the beginner level boys category, which included 39 runners, Norquay had: Keegen Dyck, 28th; Rylen Lukey, 11th; Jake Foster, ninth; Carson Ebert, fourth, and Jaxson Lindgren, second.

In beginner girls there were 39 girls that competed and the Norquay girls placed as follows: Randi Foster, 19th, and Alexa Olson, seventh.

Norquay had no weepee or peewee runners entered this year but Elijah Hort ran in the boys bantam race and placed ninth out of 17, while Allison Robinson ran in midge girls category and placed ninth out of nine.

Those are some overall fantastic runs from some pretty fantastic kids.

Our school year will be a new, and adventurous one that will allow our students to grow and have fun. With an SCR crew like what we have, and cross-country results like that, our students are bound to have tons of different experiences and growth opportunities that will make memories last forever.
