Police in Saskatoon are speaking out against the vigilantes who have now ‘outed’ two potential child sex offenders through Internet video posting. While I can see the side of things from the police perspective, the reality is that hardly any of us in the general public are going to have sympathy for the potential predators, who get caught on video. What I foresee happening, though, is that a vigilante is going to go up to the wrong guy and something tragic is going to happen. My query will be how will the legal system look at that child predator? Will he be viewed with some sympathy because the vigilante was acting outside the law? My other question would be, how do you think the legal system would treat a distraught father whose child was victimized and retaliated by doing something violent to the alleged predator? The way it works, it wouldn’t surprise me if the dad had the book thrown at him, but there was understanding applied to the predator who lashes back at a vigilante.
The federal Liberals announced on Monday they will run an $18-billion deficit, far exceeding their projected total of $10-billion. But, that’s okay. It’s what Canadians want or else they wouldn’t have voted for these people. I am starting to see some folks (not just in western Canada) start to take notice, in a negative way, all the spending the Liberals are doing outside of Canada. This is not a surprise. To me, Trudeau has stuck to his election platform fairly close. To vote for him and now whine about it shows low intelligence. For the record, I’ve never been supportive of him or his party. I think they are in way over their head. I saw a meme on the weekend that featured Stephen Harper and Ralph Klein shaking hands and the caption read, ‘Don’t you miss the day of having our society run by grown ups?”
Donald Trump continues to be a popular choice for American voters and it’s no longer unrealistic to think we will see a presidential race of Trump versus Hillary Clinton. Trump pushes the envelope further with each passing week, most recently taking on the Pope. I don’t think Trump wants to be President. I think he sees this whole thing as his own reality show and he’s trying to find where the line is before his own people say ‘okay that’s enough’. I think the American public that are smitten with him are not supporting Trump the person, so much as they are rebelling against the current establishment that has taken over the US and Canada. There are, finally, large numbers that feel being politically correct hurts our society and, actually, alienates people more than it includes them. Trump is seen as a symbol and while his existence is viewed as grotesque to many, it’s seen as a breath of fresh air to others, even though many don’t share his, incredibly, extreme beliefs. Just a hunch, but Trump supporters aren’t supporting him, but rather supporting the notion that it’s okay to say things that a very small fraction of the population claims are offensive.
Montreal Canadiens forward PK Subban was thrown under the bus by his coach last week after he tried to make an offensive play, but ended up falling (or behing taken down) to the ice, resulting in a turn over that saw Colorado skate down the ice 3-on-3 and getting a goal late in the third period to win the game 3-2. Somehow, the goal was Subban’s fault and there was no accountability on the other three players or the goalie, who played the situation terribly. But, this is the life of an NHL player. Do not be creative or try to score. Montreal’s coach has since been taken to task for talking so negatively about Subban after the game, which is a good thing. Saturday night, Toronto coach Mike Babcock yanked his goalie after three terrible goals against Philadelphia and then proceeded to chuck his netminder under the bus for being bad. This was not something Toronto media questions because Babcock enjoys some sort of mind control over this group, which disguises itself as media, but really are nothing more than the biggest fans of the Toronto Maple Leafs that you will ever find. I wonder what will happen is Babcock, Shanahan, and Lamoriello can’t turn this ship around and bring a Stanley Cup to Toronto? I mean their plan is idiot proof. They can’t lose, can they? If they fail, it’s time to just fold up the tent in Toronto.
Spring training baseball is around the corner and Boston Red Sox third baseman Pablo Sandoval should be out to prove something after he showed the first year of his 5-year, $100-million contract was a colossal waste of money. Instead, there is a picture circulating that shows Sandoval to be more ready to lay on the couch and watch baseball for the summer than he is to be playing it.
Nice person mentions to Dave Nussbaumer, Nolan Johnson, Darryl Flunder, Rhonda Berard, and Juanita Polegi.
