On September 20, which would have been the 13th birthday of James Severight of Cote First Nation, who had died the previous week from a gunshot wound, hundreds of persons participated in events held to focus on the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse.

Former Kamsack resident Daniel B. Konkin, son of Irene Konkin of Madge Lake and the late Peter J. Konkin, was appointed a judge of the Saskatchewan court of Queen’s Bench.

Former Kamsack resident Roberta Materie of Saskatoon was among Canadians who were moved by the results of Hurricane Katrina in the southern USA and was asking district residents to help relieve their suffering by donating new underwear which she was planning to transport to New Orleans.

The Keeseekoose Blues men’s fastball team won the championship trophy and $1,200 at the Treaty 4 fastball competition in Fort Qu’Appelle.

The Fort Pelly-Livingstone Heritage Guild, which worked to help preserve and focus attention on the historic former forts Pelly and Livingstone, had 500 heritage coins struck which depict a fort on one side and the provincial centennial insignia on the other. The coins were being sold for $10 each.

During the Kamsack centennial celebration at the beginning of August, 19 of the 30 students who had graduated from the Kamsack Collegiate Institute in 1955 attended a 50-year class reunion.
