KENASTON - The Kenaston Blizzards are once again provincial hockey champions, having won the title this past weekend in front of a raucous hometown crowd.

Matched up against the Lumsden Monarchs in Provincial 'A' finals, the Blizzards first did battle with them in Game 1 on Saturday, March 23 in Lumsden, where the Blizzards found a winning formula that took them to a 3-1 victory on the Monarchs' home ice.

When things moved to the Kenaston Arena the following night for Game 2, things appeared to be at a standstill after the first period, as the scoreboard was reading 0-0.

That changed in the second period, as Kenaston soon found themselves on the winning end with two goals to Lumsden's blank slate. But they soon found what they needed in order to get on the score clock, and it turned this game into a bit of a nail-biter for local hockey fans.

When all the dust, or rather the ice was cleared, the score was a 10-5 victory for the Kenaston Blizzards, who had won the Senior 'A' Provincial Championship. This marks the fifth provincial title for the team and the third one in a row, with wins in 2002, 2012, 2022 and 2023.

Coached by Chance Jewell and assistance coach Chase Zdunich, with manager Chad Firby and assistant manager Brad Hoffmann, the Kenaston Blizzards are comprised of players Carson George, Greg Moir, Tyler Peterson, Jaimen Yakubowski, Garett Bembridge, Connor Gay, Levi Cable, Logan McVeigh, Eric Asbjornhus, Tanner Lishchynski, Carson Stadnyk, Jordan Tkatch, Kenton Dulle, Monty Zdunich, Evan Zdunich, Michael Haugen, Nolan Haugen, Leighton Jewell, Dawson George, Colby Haugen, Jackson Firby, Brodie Ringdal, Jay Dubyk, Skylar Feltis, and Chris Prpich.
