Land, animals take spotlight in Outlook gallery

Artists reception to take place this coming Friday

OUTLOOK - The latest offering from the Outlook art gallery puts attention on two things - eye-grabbing landscapes and unique animal sculptures.

Featuring the works of Janet Akre and Eli Dingle, the exhibit known as 'Motion Alive' puts a spotlight on the works of the two Outlook artists, whether it's Akre's boldly colourful and striking landscape paintings, or Dingle's smooth and contrasting nature-in-progress sculptures.

Akre's artist statement on the wall of the gallery gives viewers some background information on how the show came to fruition.

"A blank canvas, mere paint. Yet a portal to touch the life bursting into motion just outside any human doorway. Nature is always growing and changing, never stagnant even in decay. Rivers run, grasses sway, winds move clouds and mountains tower. As I manipulate fluid paints, I feel that motion and sense the life which photos try to capture. The multi-coloured swirls come to life as water, earth and sky. Simple yet universally complex motion declaring they are truly alive.

Ancient spirits moving to sacred songs. See. Listen."

Art lovers can check out the show for themselves at the Outlook gallery.

As well, an artists reception is set to take place at the gallery this Friday night, April 8 from 7:00-8:30, where patrons can join Akre and Dingle and discuss their works in-person.
