Marina opening draws guests at Sandy Shores Resort

The development on Lake Diefenbaker opened up its new marina space.

LAKE DIEFENBAKER - One of the most landmark infrastructure projects centered on Lake Diefenbaker held its official opening on Saturday, June 25 when the marina located at Sandy Shores Resort was sworn in with a day's worth of events.

A healthy crowd was on hand for the day, which included games, sports, live music, as well as information sessions on aquatic invasive species facing Lake Diefenbaker and a chance to learn all you could about fishing from the 'Fishinggeeks', Adam and Sean Konrad.

In addition, people could even learn to fillet a fish in order to get the most out of their next catch on Diefenbaker.

To mark the opening, several guests were on hand and joined Sandy Shores Resort owner Rauncie Kinnaird in cutting the ceremonial ribbon on the marina, including MP Jeremy Patzer, former MLA Eric Olauson, Joel Perry of Danielson Provincial Park, MLA Marv Friesen, and Minister of Environment Dana Skoropad.

Signifying the official beginning of such projects that will see this section of Lake Diefenbaker take on something of a transformation, the work being carried out by Sandy Shores is something that many have noticed and commended for trying to bring more attention to the Diefenbaker area.
