OUTLOOK - The nominees have been announced for the 2023 Better Newspapers Competition, and The Outlook is in the running for six awards.

The competition is made possible by the Saskatchewan Weekly Newspapers Association (SWNA) and highlights the work being done each year by dozens of publications around the province.

First up, General Manager Delwyn Luedtke is nominated for Best Page Design for his layout, 'Enjoying Summer'.

Next, The Outlook newspaper is nominated for Best Front Page in Class A in the General Excellence category.

Columnist and writer Shelley Luedtke is in the running for two awards as she's up for Columnist of the Year for her weekly 'My Outlook' feature and Best Saskatchewan Arts or Cultural Story for her article, 'A group that brings the stories to the stage'.

Reporter, photographer and columnist Derek Ruttle is also in the running for two awards, but his name actually pops up twice in the same category! Ruttle is up for Best Saskatchewan Recreational Story or Series of Stories for his feature article on the Outlook rink possibly being haunted after a stop by ghost hunters from Purgatory Adventures, and his name comes up twice in the running for Best Photo Essay of the Year for his photo layout of the Outlook Prairie Festival, as well as his gallery of photos from the Riverbank Rodeo.

The BNC award winners will be announced online on Friday, May 12.

Congratulations to all the nominees around the province!
