CANORA - The Canora/Sturgis RCMP responded to 34 calls from September 16 to September 23, some of which included: three traffic accidents, five provincial traffic offences, one impaired operation, nine other provincial statutes, two mischiefs and 10 other incidents.
Trespassing through locked gate
On September 16, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a trespassing complaint in the RM of Insinger. Police investigated the matter and learned that a gate lock was cut to allow access to the land. Major damage
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were notified on September 17 of a two vehicle collision at Highway No. 49 and Main Street in Preeceville. There were no injuries reported but both vehicles were no longer drivable.
Not RCMP taxi
The Canora RCMP Detachment received a request to transport an individual to their residence in Canora on September 17. Police spoke to the complainant and reminded them that police resources are not to be used for taxi services.
Fence damage
On September 18, the Canora/Sturgis RCMP received a complaint of a fence being damaged in Canora.
Costly drinking binge
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP conducted a traffic stop on September 19 on a vehicle driving north of Canora on Highway No. 9. The driver was found to be impaired by alcohol and was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. Police obtained breath samples from the driver, which were almost three times above the legal limit. The subject was criminally charged, their vehicle was seized and drivers licence suspended.
Public intoxication
The Canora/Sturgis RCMP were called to a disturbance in Canora on September 20, which involved an intoxicated person falling down on a street corner. Police located the subject at their residence and provided a warning for being intoxicated in a public place.
