Sturgis resident honoured by United Church Women

STURGIS - Sturgis resident, Hazel Urbanoski received a lifetime membership from the United Church Women’s organization on November 28 at the Sturgis Grace United Church.

She was presented a special pin and received a certificate detailing her accomplishments. Urbanoski has been a member and chairperson of the UCW for the past 27 years and has been a dedicated volunteer in the church. “I am so very honoured to receive this award,” said Urbanoski.

Elaine Christopherson presented her with the award and spoke briefly on her accomplishments. “As a women of the United Church you have expressed your loyalty by your devoted services and the sharing of your gifts in the United Church of Canada. You are being honoured by the gift of a Lifetime Membership in the United Church of Women.”

Christopherson also mentioned some of the things that Hazel does in the church. She has made all the banners in the church, changing them regularly according to all the different season. She was also the president of the Grace UCW for 27 years and is still a very active member in the church and with the UCW.
