PREECEVILLE — Kimmuel Albarracin was elected by his classmates to give the Sturgis Composite School graduation valedictorian address on June 13.
"My fellow classmates, we are all happy to be done with school and excited to see what the future holds for us. Our journey doesn’t [end] — it’s just the beginning. I know that every one of us is going to succeed in whatever we set our minds to. This class is something bigger than themselves. We’re there for each other and constantly checking up on one another," Albarracin said in his speech.
"Teachers, thank you for the lessons taught, lessons that each single one of us will use throughout our lives. You taught us lessons that go beyond textbooks. You taught us discipline, believed in us when we didn’t believe in ourselves. You were the second parent and played a major role in shaping us into the men and women we are today.
"Thank you to our parents for everything you did for us. You were our first mentors, we looked up to you and wanted to grow up like you.
"As we stand here today, at the end of one chapter and the beginning of another, let’s take a moment to soak it in. We laughed, cried and we have grown together.
"Never forget where you came from, and never stop chasing your goals. Carry the lessons, the memories, and the love from this place with you,” concluded Albarracin.
