Porter

With sadness, the family of Carolyn (Carol) Eileen Porter announce her sudden passing on Friday, June 30, 2017.  She was 58 years of age. Carolyn was born on January 19, 1959 in Saltcoats, SK the seventh of eight children born to Lorne and June (nee Howie) Porter. The family lived in Saltcoats for a short time before moving to Snow Lake, MB where Carolyn received most of her education. They moved back to Saltcoats years later where Carolyn lived until her passing. Carolyn enjoyed participating in many different activities, but in her younger years she loved to curl. She had many talents including knitting, crocheting and sewing, making a variety of different things for the family. She always said, "You bring me a ball of wool or a pattern and I'll make it for you". She loved talking on the phone and catching up with people. Spending many hours on the phone she'd always leave off by saying "I'll talk to you later" which wouldn't be long at all. She loved her family and friends and, as much as she could, she would always put them first. Carolyn was predeceased by her parents, Lorne and June Porter; her sister, Gloria Smith; her brothers, John Porter and Jim Porter and her niece, Kim Tarasoff along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Carolyn is survived by her son, Curtis Berard and daughter, Diana Berard both of Yorkton, SK; her sisters, Diane (Bob) LaVallee of Yorkton, SK and Lorna (Jim) Ward of Saltcoats, SK; her brothers, Stan Porter of Saskatoon, SK and Harvey (Paulette) Porter of Yellowknife, NWT; 16 nieces and nephews, 10 great-nieces and nephews and most recently, one great-great-nephew as well as her aunts, cousins and many friends. Funeral Services were held on Friday, July 7, 2017 from Saltcoats United Church in Saltcoats, SK with Fred Nicholson officiating. The organist, Carla Laycock, led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, "Amazing Grace" and "The Old Rugged Cross". The urn bearer was Carolyn's son, Curtis Berard. A private family cremation committal will take place at a later date. Friends so wishing may forward their condolences to the family by visiting www.christiesfuneralhome.com. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Christie's Funeral Home & Crematorium, Yorkton, Saskatchewan.
